Young Man Dies in Motorcycle Collision Returning from Iftar at Sister’s Home

In a tragic accident in Moulvibazar’s Juri Upazila, a young man lost his life after sustaining severe injuries in a motorcycle collision. Badal Mia, a 35-year-old businessman who had married just two months ago, died on Thursday evening in Bachirpur following the incident.

Accident Details

The tragedy occurred on the first day of Ramadan. Earlier that day, Badal had arranged for iftar parcels to be sent from his in-laws’ home to his family. After delivering the items to his elder sister’s house on his motorcycle, he was returning home when disaster struck.

Between 5:45 and 5:55 pm, in front of Helal Uddin’s house in Bachirpur, a pickup van coming from the opposite direction collided with Badal’s motorcycle. The impact threw him from the vehicle, leaving him with critical head injuries. Neighbours rushed him to the Juri Upazila Health Complex, where his condition rapidly deteriorated. He was subsequently being transported to M. A. G. Osmani Medical College Hospital in Sylhet but succumbed to his injuries en route.

Personal Background

Badal Mia was the son of the late Mangal Mia of Bachirpur and was engaged in the local business of packaged food distribution. He had celebrated his wedding in late December of the previous year and had only recently begun married life.

Family Reactions

Mourning his loss, Badal’s elder brother, Morshed Alam, said through tears,
“He started his business, got married, and barely two months later, he is gone. How do we console ourselves?”

His widow and family members spent the night grieving, while neighbours tried to offer comfort amid the profound sorrow.

Police Statement

Minhaj Uddin, Officer-in-Charge of Juri Police Station, confirmed that no formal complaint has been filed by the family. At their request, Badal’s body was handed over to the family without a post-mortem examination.
