A passenger bus of Jamuna Transport caught fire in Kamalnagar, Lakshmipur. The incident occurred on Tuesday (25 November) around 8:30 pm at Karaitola on the Lakshmipur-Ramgati regional road. Passengers managed to evacuate the bus quickly, and no one was injured.
According to preliminary reports from the Fire Service, the fire was caused by a mechanical fault and the engine overheating. The bus was diesel-operated.
Local sources reported that the Jamuna Transport local bus (Dhaka Metro B-15-3136), which had departed from Feni, caught fire near Karaitola market while on its way to Ramgati. Fire service personnel managed to bring the blaze under control after almost an hour of effort.
A passenger on the bus said a loud noise was heard suddenly, followed by the fire spreading. Because everyone evacuated promptly, a major accident was avoided.
Kamalnagar Fire Service Station Officer Rakibul Hasan stated that the fire started due to the engine overheating. No passengers were injured. Approximately 80 percent of the bus was destroyed.
