Shai Hope’s Three T20 Hundreds End on the Same Score

West Indies captain Shai Hope is enjoying a remarkable run of form, with his latest century adding another milestone to an increasingly impressive record. His unbeaten 102 against India in the fourth T20 international in Hyderabad was his third century in the format, and all three have ended with the same score: 102 not out.

The coincidence is striking. Hope has reached three figures three times in T20 cricket, yet he has not been dismissed in any of those innings. Each century has finished at precisely 102 runs, giving the West Indies skipper an unusual statistical achievement as he continues to deliver substantial contributions with the bat.

His latest hundred came off 50 deliveries and featured nine sixes and four fours. The innings demonstrated his ability to score quickly while remaining at the crease, a combination that can prove decisive in the shortest format of the game. The West Indies crossed the 200-run mark in each of the matches in which Hope scored a century, underlining the value of his contributions to the team’s batting effort.

Hope had previously produced another unbeaten 102 against India in the second T20 international in Ranchi. That innings took just 45 balls and included nine sixes and six fours. His aggressive approach put pressure on India’s bowlers, while his ability to stay at the crease allowed the West Indies to maintain their scoring momentum. The team won both matches against India in which he reached a century.

The latest performance also extends a productive sequence across formats. In his last six innings, Hope has recorded scores of 104, 162 not out, 52, 102 not out, five and 102 not out, with the most recent innings listed first. Four of those six outings have produced centuries, highlighting the consistency that has characterised his recent batting.

His first T20 century, however, did not bring the same team success. Hope scored 102 from 57 balls against Australia at Basseterre in 2025, hitting eight fours and six sixes. Despite his unbeaten effort, the West Indies could not secure victory. Australia’s Tim David struck a century from just 37 deliveries, overshadowing Hope’s achievement and leaving his first hundred in the format on the losing side.

Across 74 T20 appearances, Hope has scored 2,004 runs, including three centuries and 13 half-centuries. The figures reflect his growing importance to the West Indies batting line-up, particularly when the side needs an innings capable of providing both stability and acceleration.

T20 cricket places a premium on scoring quickly, but maintaining a presence at the crease can be just as important. Hope’s recent hundreds have demonstrated his capacity to combine those demands. Rather than simply reaching a personal milestone, he has helped the West Indies build totals beyond 200, giving the team a stronger platform from which to compete.

The identical scores make his three centuries an unusual talking point, but Hope’s broader run of form is arguably more significant. Four hundreds in his last six innings across formats point to a batter in exceptional touch. If he can sustain that consistency, the West Indies captain will remain a key figure in the team’s efforts to strengthen its performances in T20 cricket.
