An eight-year-old girl is in critical condition on life support after being sexually assaulted while visiting her sister’s home in Magura. The victim’s mother has filed a case against four members of her elder daughter’s in-laws, all of whom have been taken into police custody.
According to police and family sources, the child, a resident of Shreepur upazila, had gone to visit her sister a few days ago. On Thursday around 11:30 AM, she was found unconscious and and was rushed to the Magura 250-Bed Hospital by her sister’s mother-in-law.
Upon arrival, doctors referred the child to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. Later that night, she was transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) as her condition worsened.
On Friday night, the victim’s condition further deteriorated, and doctors at DMCH placed her on life support. Brigadier General Md Asaduzzaman, Director of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, confirmed the severity of her injuries, saying that her condition is critical. She is breathing with the help of a ventilator.
She has been moved to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka for better treatment this afternoon.
This morning, the victim’s mother submitted a complaint to Magura Sadar Police Station through her elder daughter and husband. Based on the complaint, police registered the case at 3:00 PM. The victim’s brother-in-law, father-in-law, mother-in-law, and brother-in-law’s brother have been formally arrested in connection with the case.
Police confirmed that the suspects were already in custody before the case was officially filed.
