Indian actor Prakash Raj has condemned the ongoing violence in Palestine, describing it as ‘genocide’ and holding Israel, the United States, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi responsible for the atrocities.
According to Indian media sources, on 19 September, a large protest rally and march was held in Chennai against Israel’s actions in Palestine, which were described by organisers as genocide. Various political parties and social organisations from Tamil Nadu participated in the demonstration.
Alongside Prakash Raj, notable attendees included actor Sathyaraj and filmmaker Vetrimaaran, among other prominent leaders and personalities.
At the rally, Prakash Raj stated: “If speaking out against injustice is called politics, then yes, this is politics—and we will speak. The war will end, the leaders will shake hands and move on, but somewhere, a mother waits for her son, a wife waits for her husband, and children wait for their fathers. That is the truth.”
He further criticised Israel, the United States, and Narendra Modi, saying: “The injustice currently happening in Palestine is not only Israel’s fault; America is equally responsible. Narendra Modi’s silence is equally culpable.”
Actor Sathyaraj condemned the ongoing killings in Gaza, calling them inhumane and crimes against humanity. He asked:
“How can bombs be dropped on Gaza? Where is humanity? After committing such atrocities, how do these people sleep peacefully?”
Filmmaker Vetrimaaran described the aggression in Palestine as planned genocide. He added: “Bombs are being dropped not only on residential areas but also on schools and hospitals in Gaza. Even the olive trees, which are a source of life and livelihood for people, are being destroyed.”
