The Election Commission (EC) announced on Tuesday that two political parties, including the National Citizens’ Party (NCP), have met the required criteria for registration as political parties.
Senior Secretary of the EC, Akhtar Ahmed, provided the details, stating that a public notification will be issued regarding these two parties. Meanwhile, twelve other parties will undergo further verification, and seven parties’ applications have been rejected.

According to the EC Secretary: “A total of 143 political parties applied for registration. Of these, 22 parties were investigated at the field level. Our verification has so far deemed two parties eligible: the National Citizens’ Party (NCP) and the Bangladesh National League. A letter regarding the NCP’s symbol will be issued shortly. However, the official registration notification will be published later.”
