The mysterious death of Assam’s popular singer Zubin Garg has taken a dramatic turn, as authorities have arrested two key figures in connection with the case. Singer Zubin Garg’s manager, Siddharth Sharma, and the organiser of the North-East India Festival, Shyamkanu Mahanta, have been taken into custody.
Arrest Details
| Name | Role | Place of Arrest | Additional Information |
| Siddharth Sharma | Zubin Garg’s Manager | Gurugram, India | Arrested from his apartment by a special CID investigation team |
| Shyamkanu Mahanta | North-East India Festival Organiser | Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi, India | Arrested immediately after returning from Singapore |
According to police sources, the two accused were flown back from Delhi to Guwahati early on Wednesday morning. Prior to these arrests, Shekharjyotik, Zubin Garg’s drummer, had also been detained in connection with the case.
On 19 September, Zubin Garg tragically drowned in Singapore, an incident that has since sparked widespread shock and speculation.
To investigate the case, the Assam government formed a special 10-member team led by Special Director General of Police, M.P. Gupta. This investigative team had summoned the statements of manager Siddharth Sharma, organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta, and members of the Singapore Assam Association. However, after the notices were issued, the accused could not initially be located.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma had earlier confirmed that a “Lookout Notice” had been issued against Mahanta and Sharma through Interpol. Following this procedure, the arrests were successfully executed.
