Immigration-themed Film “Shekor” to Premiere in Canada

The film Shekor, directed by Prasun Rahman, is set to have its international premiere in Toronto, Canada. The screening will take place on 18 October at the International Film Festival of South Asia (IFSA).

 

Shekor explores themes of immigration, identity, and the pull of one’s roots. The lead roles are played by F S Naim and Aisha Khan, with supporting performances from Dilara Zaman, Samu Chowdhury, and several others.

The screenplay and dialogues were written by Prasun Rahman, based on a novel by Sanaul Mostafa.

After screenings at various international festivals, the film is scheduled for domestic release during next year’s Ramadan Eid.

 

The International Film Festival of South Asia, focusing on South Asian cinema, will run from 9 to 19 October. According to Prasun Rahman, Shekor will have its international premiere on 18 October at the festival. The director himself will be present at the premiere event.

This film marks another significant addition to South Asian cinema on the global stage, highlighting contemporary stories of migration and the enduring connection to one’s homeland.
