Heartbreak in Chandanaish as School Mourns Death of Class 7 Student

Students and teachers at Jamijuri Girls’ High School in Chandanaish, Chittagong, were plunged into deep mourning on Wednesday afternoon as the lifeless body of Raisa Tania was brought to the school premises for a final farewell. The atmosphere turned solemn as grief-stricken classmates broke down in tears upon seeing the mortal remains of their beloved peer, struggling to come to terms with the sudden loss.

Raisa Tania, a seventh-grade student at the institution, tragically passed away on Wednesday afternoon whilst undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Chittagong city. She had been suffering from complications associated with measles. Raisa was the youngest of three siblings and the daughter of Mohammad Ali, a resident of the Jamijuri Ghorapara area under the Dohazari Municipality in Chandanaish.

Confirming the devastating news, the headmaster of the school, Bishnu Jasha Chakraborty, shared details of her battle with illness. He explained that Raisa had initially fallen ill approximately twenty days prior to her passing. Although her condition briefly showed signs of improvement, she later contracted measles, causing her health to deteriorate rapidly. Recognizing the severity of her symptoms, her family admitted her to a private healthcare facility in Chittagong city, where medical professionals fought to save her life. Regrettably, despite medical intervention, she succumbed to her illness during treatment.

Describing the heart-wrenching scene at the institution, Mr Chakraborty noted that when the young student’s body arrived at the school compound in the afternoon, an outpouring of emotion swept through the campus. Classmates, teachers, and staff members alike were visibly shaken by the tragedy. He remembered Raisa as a bright, conscientious, and dedicated student who was warmly regarded by her peers and consistently praised by her educators for her excellent academic performance and pleasant demeanor.

Measles remains a highly contagious viral disease that poses severe risks to children, particularly when secondary complications arise during recovery. Health experts consistently emphasize the critical importance of timely immunization and vigilant medical oversight when symptoms manifest. For the close-knit community of Jamijuri Girls’ High School, Raisa’s unexpected passing represents an irreparable loss, leaving an empty desk in the classroom and a deep void in the hearts of those who knew her.
