Passenger Bus Reduced to Ashes in Moments, Multiple Casualties Feared in Andhra Pradesh

In a tragic road accident in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh, India, a private Volvo passenger bus was completely engulfed in flames within moments. The incident occurred early Friday morning on the Hyderabad-Bengaluru highway.

According to police sources, the AC Volvo bus operated by Kaberi Travels collided with a motorcycle, which immediately sparked a fire. Within minutes, the blazing fire consumed the entire bus.

Kurnool Police Superintendent Vikrant Patel told NDTV, “This was an air-conditioned bus, so the temperature inside rose rapidly after the fire started. Passengers were unable to open the doors; only those who broke the window glass managed to escape with their lives.”

He added that the bus was carrying a total of 40 passengers, including two drivers. So far, 15 people have been rescued and admitted to the hospital. Multiple fire service teams have brought the blaze under control, but the exact number of fatalities has not yet been confirmed.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed deep condolences to the families of the deceased and directed authorities to ensure prompt medical care for the injured.

Earlier, on October 14, a bus traveling from Jaisalmer to Jodhpur caught fire in Thayat village, Rajasthan, killing 22 people, including three children. Preliminary investigations suggest that fire in that incident also originated from a short circuit and gas leakage in the bus’s air-conditioning unit.
