Metro rail operations, which were suddenly halted due to a mechanical fault, have now returned to normal from Uttara to Motijheel starting Thursday (October 30) morning.
After a bearing pad fell at the Farmgate section where the previous accident had occurred, some vibrations were detected there on Wednesday night. As a result, metro operations between Agargaon and Karwan Bazar were suspended around 9:15 a.m. However, metro services continued as scheduled (until 10:10 p.m.) between Motijheel and Karwan Bazar, and between Uttara and Agargaon.
Earlier, on October 26 at noon, a bearing pad detached and fell from the connection between a pillar and the viaduct just west of the Farmgate station, killing a pedestrian named Abul Kalam. Metro operations were immediately suspended following the incident. Later in the afternoon, service was first resumed from Uttara to Agargaon, and in the evening from Motijheel to Shahbagh.
After reinstalling the bearing pad, full metro operations resumed on the morning of October 27. However, for three consecutive days, trains were operated at reduced speed in the Farmgate station area.
