Expatriates will also have the opportunity to vote in the upcoming national election

In the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election, expatriate Bangladeshis, election officials, government employees staying outside their own constituencies, and voters under legal custody will be able to cast their votes through an IT-supported postal ballot system.

This information was stated in a public interest message signed by Md. Ruhul Amin Mallik, Director (Public Relations) of the Election Commission (EC) Secretariat, on Monday.

According to the message, during the upcoming parliamentary election, Bangladeshi voters living abroad, election officials on duty, government employees staying outside their constituencies, and voters under legal custody will have the opportunity to vote through an IT-supported postal ballot.

For further details, citizens are advised to visit the website www.ecs.gov.bd and follow the Election Commission’s official YouTube channel @BangladeshECS.

Senior Secretary of the EC Secretariat, Akhtar Ahmed, said that for the first time, expatriate Bangladeshis will have the opportunity to vote via postal ballots. Those registered through the ‘Postal Vote BD’ app will be able to cast their votes by mail.

He further stated that the registration app for expatriate voters will be launched on November 16, and the registration deadline will be announced on that day.
