The Bogura district office of the Department of Narcotics Control carried out an operation and arrested a drug dealer, Md. Abdul Aziz (42), along with 13 kg of marijuana. He was detained on Monday (3 November) afternoon from the Muradpur area on the Bogura-Rangpur highway in Shibganj upazila.
Abdul Aziz, the arrested individual, was the son of the late Phul Mamun from Telipara village in Lalmonirhat district. He had been involved in drug trafficking for many years.
According to the Department of Narcotics Control, based on confidential information that a passenger bus traveling from Kurigram to Dhaka was carrying marijuana hidden in fish crates, an operation was conducted in Shibganj on Monday afternoon. During the raid, 13 kg of marijuana, carefully wrapped in white polythene along with fish and ice inside the crate, was recovered.
Deputy Director Moha. Zillur Rahman of the district office stated that the operation was based on secret intelligence, leading to the arrest of Abdul Aziz. A case has been filed against him under the Narcotics Control Act at Shibganj Police Station.
