Mushfiqur’s Century Before Ireland Series

The Rajshahi cricket team defeated Khulna within three days, while the other three matches today ended in draws. At the Sylhet International Stadium, Mushfiqur Rahim completed his century, and Barisal’s Salman Hossain also scored a ton.

Mushfiqur Rahim, on reaching his century with a ramp shot over the wicketkeeper’s head for four, showed visible excitement. The day before, bowler Enamul Haque had challenged him with some bouncers, and Mushfiq responded in style. After completing his century, he celebrated by raising his hands and giving Enamul a fiery stare.

Mushfiqur’s century was his 19th first-class century, which will serve as excellent preparation ahead of the upcoming Test series against Ireland. On the final day of the match at the Sylhet International Stadium, Mushfiq was batting on 93 when his team stood at 7 wickets for 260 runs. In the closing stages, amidst some risky moments, Mushfiq reached his century with Nabil Samad providing support from the other end. Mushfiq eventually fell for 115 runs from 205 balls, including 8 fours and 2 sixes. The team was bowled out for 290 runs.

They managed only 13 runs off 4 overs before agreeing to a draw. Dhaka’s opener, Zishan Alam, made 94 runs, but unfortunately was dismissed for 90 in consecutive innings, marking a rare occurrence in his career.

The match between Barisal and Chattogram at the Cox’s Bazar International Stadium also ended in a draw. Barisal’s first innings was unfinished on the third day due to a wet pitch, but today they declared on 259 runs. Salman Hossain was unbeaten on 120, his second first-class century.

After Barisal declared, Chattogram played just 4 overs in their second innings, scoring 35 runs without losing a wicket, before declaring their innings. Barisal’s target was set at 135 runs. They managed 19 runs in 9 overs before agreeing to a draw.
