Young Man Surrenders in Court After Killing Wife

In Madhabpur, Habiganj, Rajon Mia strangled his wife Shapla Begum to death. The following morning, he went to the Habiganj Women and Children’s Court to surrender.

The court informed the Madhabpur police, who arrested him and brought him to the police station. Based on Rajon’s confession, Shapla Begum’s body was recovered on Tuesday evening from beneath sand in an abandoned plot in Korra village.

The deceased, Shapla Begum (19), was the daughter of Suman Mia from Chapartala village in Nasirnagar Upazila. Her husband, Rajon Mia, is the son of Kajol Mia from Putijuri, Bahubal. The couple married after being in a relationship for several years. After their marriage, they lived in a rented house in Korra village, and Shapla worked as a laborer in a local factory.

According to family and local sources, conflicts arose recently over alleged extramarital affairs. On Monday night, suspecting his wife of infidelity, Rajon Mia strangled her and buried her body under sand in an abandoned plot in Korra village under the cover of darkness.

Kabin Hossain, Inspector (Investigation) of Madhabpur Police Station, confirmed the incident, stating that Shapla’s body has been recovered and the suspect, Rajon Mia, is in police custody.
