In Naogaon, a man named Golam Hossain (52) was reportedly stabbed to death during an arbitration meeting over a land dispute. The incident took place on Wednesday (November 5) night at Sunlia Malonchi village in Dubalhati Union under Sadar Upazila. The deceased was the son of Siraj Uddin of the same village.
According to the victim’s cousin, Nayan Islam, two brothers, Harunur Rashid and Azad, residents of Malonchi village, had been engaged in a longstanding land dispute. A few days earlier, they attended an arbitration session at an advocate’s office, where Golam Hossain was present and spoke in favor of Azad.
As a result, on Wednesday night, an argument broke out between Golam Hossain and Harunur Rashid. At one point, Harun’s son, Antor, arrived and stabbed Golam Hossain. Locals rescued him, but he died on the way to Naogaon Sadar Hospital.
Naogaon Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nure Alam Siddiqui said that upon receiving the news, police visited the scene at night. The body was recovered and sent to Naogaon Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, after which it will be handed over to the family.
He further stated that preparations are underway to file a case, and necessary legal action will be taken once the case is lodged.
