‘Joy Bangla’ Slogan During NCP March

In Narayanganj, a sudden shout of ‘Joy Bangla’ by a young man caused a moment of tension during a torch procession organised by the National Citizens’ Party (NCP). The incident occurred on Wednesday (12 November) at around 10:00 PM, when the procession set off from the central Shahid Minar.

The procession, moving along Chashara Salimullah Road towards the Bagh-e-Jannat Jame Mosque, was disrupted when the young man raised the slogan loudly in front of the marchers. Several participants tried to apprehend him, but he escaped into the mosque alley and could not be found despite a lengthy search.

NCP officials and former leaders from the National Youth Force, Student Power, and the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement were present at the march, including South Region Central Organiser Shawkat Ali, National Youth Force organiser Nirab Raihan, former joint convener Aminul Islam, and former spokesperson Sarfaraz Haque Sajib.

Shawkat Ali said: “In the Missionpara area, a young man suddenly shouted, ‘I support Joy Bangla, do something to me.’ Some female members of our procession called out, and we tried to catch him, but he ran away. He could not be found later. Although the incident was unexpected, the procession concluded peacefully.”
