A woman’s body, packed inside a sack, has been recovered from Ukhiya in Cox’s Bazar. Around 6:30 pm on Thursday, police recovered the body from inside a sack on the west side of the Tachchakhali Bridge in Ward No. 9 of Holdiapalong Union.
According to locals, pedestrians noticed a foul smell and found a body inside a sack. Upon receiving the information, a patrol team from Ukhiya Police Station quickly arrived at the scene and recovered the body.
Initially, the victim has been identified as Rahima (30). She was the daughter of Amir Hossain from Ward No. 1 of Jaliapalong Union.
Relatives of the victim stated that on 6 November, Rahima’s husband, Jasim Uddin, took her from her father’s house saying he would take her out. Since then, both Rahima and Jasim had been missing.
Locals suspect that after killing his wife, Jasim packed the body inside a sack, dumped it, and fled.
Police from Ukhiya Station inspected the scene and sent the body to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue.
Ukhiya Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge Ziaul Haque said the incident is under investigation, and once the husband is located, the mystery behind the case can be solved.
