1 arrested for raping disabled child

Police have arrested a young man named Mostakim Mia (21) on charges of raping a 13-year-old speech-impaired child in Jagannathpur, Sunamganj. Today, Sunday (November 16), the arrested person has been sent to jail through the Sunamganj court.

Yesterday, Saturday (November 15), the child’s elder brother filed a case under the Women and Child Repression Prevention Act at Jagannathpur Police Station. The accused is the son of Nazrul Mia of Bhatgaon village in Chhatak upazila.

According to the police and case sources, last Thursday (November 13) night, the speech and hearing-impaired child went outside the house to heed the call of nature. At this time, the neighbor Mostakim took her to the house’s toilet and raped her. Later, due to the child’s screams, the accused entered his house.

The child’s elder brother, who is the plaintiff in the case, stated that after the incident, following her screams, the family and surrounding people came, and the girl explained everything through gestures.

The next day, Friday, he filed a case making Mostakim Mia the sole accused.

Jagannathpur Police Station OC Mahfuz Imtiaz Bhuiyan said, “After the case was filed, the accused was arrested and sent to jail.”
