A 9-year-old boy’s body has been discovered in a garden in the Shalgaria Sardarpura neighbourhood of Pabna. The child had gone missing after visiting his grandmother’s house. The police recovered the body late on Saturday night, around 10:30 p.m., after being alerted by local residents.
The child was wearing gold earrings, and police suspect that he may have been murdered for the purpose of stealing them. Two people have been detained for questioning in connection with the incident. The victim, a third-grade student, had recently travelled with his mother to his grandmother’s house.
According to local residents and the child’s relatives, the boy had gone out to play in the afternoon. When he did not return by evening, his family began searching for him. After hours of searching, a public announcement was made, and at around 10 p.m., his body was discovered in a nearby garden. Police quickly arrived on the scene and recovered the body.
Locals have claimed that the garden has long been a gathering spot for troublemakers, drug users, and gamblers, and they suspect that one of these individuals may have been responsible for the child’s death.
Abdus Salam, the officer-in-charge of Pabna Sadar Police Station, stated that the gold earrings were missing when the body was found. It is believed that the child was murdered for the jewellery. The body has been sent to the Pabna General Hospital for autopsy. As of Sunday afternoon, no formal case has been filed.
