Cocktail explosions occurred in front of the main gate of Titumir College and at the Amtali intersection in the capital. Around the same time, miscreants set fire to a bus parked in front of a water tank beside BRAC University in Merul Badda. These incidents took place between 2:00 am and 2:30 am on Sunday night.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Jane Alam of Banani Police Station confirmed the matter to the media. He stated that another cocktail explosion occurred at the Amtali intersection in Mohakhali shortly after the explosion in front of Titumir College. In addition, miscreants set fire to a bus parked near the water tank beside BRAC University.
Jane Alam further said that the fire was brought under control with the help of local residents before it could spread. No casualties were reported.
It is to be noted that, following the announcement of the verdict in the first case filed against ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on charges of crimes against humanity, several incidents of arson attacks and cocktail explosions were reported in different parts of the capital.
Earlier, at around 9:00 pm yesterday, miscreants hurled two cocktails on the road in front of the residence of Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Adviser on Environment, Forest and Climate Change, on Central Road. At 9:40 pm, a cocktail explosion took place in the Banglamotor area. After 9:00 pm, three cocktail explosions occurred in Shyampur, injuring a man named Mehedi. Moreover, at around 10:00 pm, cocktail explosions were reported in Gabtoli and at the Mohakhali rail crossing.
