The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has reported that 198 murder cases occurred in the capital over the past 10 months. DMP Deputy Commissioner Talebur Rahman shared this information on Tuesday morning.
Talebur Rahman stated that an average of around 20 murders took place each month in the city. He also claimed that most of the cases have been solved.
The incidents include domestic violence, revenge stemming from old enmities, power struggles, and even the discovery of unidentified newborn bodies.
However, he added that reviewing crime data from the past ten years shows that law and order in the city is currently stable.
Regarding the murder of Jubo Dal leader Golam Kibria in Pallabi, Talebur Rahman said the police are investigating. He mentioned that one person has been arrested so far. The identities and details of the remaining two involved will be revealed after their arrest.
