This period of currency stability follows a broader recovery in Bangladesh’s external financial position over the past two years. Central bank figures show that gross foreign exchange reserves have strengthened significantly, climbing to over 36 billion US Dollars. This buffer, calculated in line with the International Monetary Fund’s standard accounting framework, provides crucial coverage for essential imports such as fuel, industrial raw materials, and agricultural commodities.

Robust remittance inflows from expatriate workers alongside strategic liquidity management by Bangladesh Bank have helped ease prior pressure on commercial banks. Financial market analysts suggest that while import liabilities and global economic fluctuations continue to require vigilant oversight, current exchange rate levels reflect improved dollar availability and a far more balanced foreign exchange market.
