The earthquake caused panic across various areas of Dhaka, with residents rushing out of their homes into the streets. At least 21 people were admitted to different hospitals in the city, including a student from Dhaka University.
Among the injured, some sustained minor injuries while others fell ill due to panic. They are receiving initial treatment at the hospitals.
It was reported that the earthquake lasted only a few seconds. According to the Meteorological Department, the earthquake measured 5.5 on the Richter scale, with its epicentre near Narsingdi.
In various parts of the city, buildings and walls were seen shaking, and hanging objects were slightly displaced.
