Bangladesh to Witness the Launch of Largest Islamic Bank Next Week!

Bangladesh Bank (BB) Governor Dr Ahsan H Mansur has announced that the much-anticipated Sammilito Islami Bank will be launched next week.

Speaking as the chief guest at the 4th Bangladesh Economic Conference on Saturday, Dr Mansur said that nearly all the formalities for launching the largest Islamic bank in the country have been completed. The new bank is being formed through the merger of five Shariah-compliant banks.

The banks involved are:

Social Islami Bank

Global Islami Bank

First Security Islami Bank

Union Bank

EXIM Bank

Dr Mansur further stated that Sammilito Islami Bank will mark a major milestone for the Islamic banking sector in Bangladesh. The bank will offer modern, safe, and Shariah-compliant banking services to customers while strengthening the country’s financial infrastructure. This initiative will also attract investors and expand financial inclusion across Bangladesh.

The launch is expected to boost confidence in Islamic banking, provide risk-managed investment options, and elevate the sector to a new level of growth and efficiency.
