Bruno Fernandes Stars as Manchester United Overcome Crystal Palace

Manchester United bounced back from a disappointing defeat to Everton with a thrilling 2-1 victory at Selhurst Park in their 13th Premier League game. The Portuguese midfielder Bruno Fernandes orchestrated the comeback with two crucial assists, ensuring the Red Devils left London with all three points.

Crystal Palace had taken an early lead in the first half through Jean-Philippe Mateta’s penalty. However, VAR intervention revealed a double touch, cancelling the initial goal. Under the new IFAB regulations, Mateta was allowed a second attempt and successfully converted, putting Palace 1-0 up at the break.

The second half saw United respond with determination. Joshua Zirkzee ended his 24-match goal drought, controlling a Fernandes free-kick and slotting the ball past Dean Henderson to level the score. Moments later, Fernandes delivered another precise free-kick, setting up Mason Mount to score and give United a 2-1 lead in the 62nd minute.

Early in the match, United had several chances. Casemiro’s shot from a Dalot throw was saved, and Fernandes’ corner in the sixth minute was expertly punched clear by Henderson. Later, Fernandes’ free-kick met Casemiro’s header but failed to find the net. Despite these early near-misses, United’s persistence paid off in the second half.

The win not only secured three valuable points but also demonstrated the tactical maturity of United’s squad. Fernandes’ creativity, combined with Zirkzee and Mount’s clinical finishing, highlighted the team’s ability to capitalise on opportunities and respond to pressure.

With this result, Manchester United record their sixth victory in 13 games, climbing the Premier League table and showcasing their resilience. Fernandes’ influence continues to be pivotal, proving why he is regarded as the heartbeat of United’s midfield.
