A larger political alliance comprising several parties will be formally launched on Monday (8 December) ahead of the upcoming parliamentary election, under the leadership of the faction of Jatiya Party headed by Barrister Anisul Islam Mahmud and the Jatiya Party (JP) led by Anwar Hossain Manju.
The alliance will be inaugurated through a press conference scheduled to be held at 11:30am at the Immanuel’s Party Centre (House-8, Road-135, Gulshan-1, Dhaka).
The press conference will be addressed by Jatiya Party chairman Barrister Anisul Islam Mahmud, JP chairman Anwar Hossain Manju, along with presidents of various political parties included in the alliance.
The decision to form the alliance was taken earlier at an exchange meeting held on Sunday (27 November) at Hawladar Tower in the capital’s Gulshan area. The alliance, formed ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election, reportedly includes 14 political parties in addition to Japa and JP.
The newly formed Nationalist Democratic Alliance led by Japa and JP has appointed Jatiya Party (one faction) secretary general Ruhul Amin Hawladar as its spokesperson. Prior to its formal launch, a liaison committee comprising senior leaders of all alliance partners has also been formed.
