Politics Cannot Be Conducted from London: Sadik Qayem

Abu Sadik Qayem, Vice President of the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU), has stated that in a new Bangladesh, politics must be conducted by embracing the youth. He emphasised, “Politics cannot be carried out from London, Delhi, or from rural villages. If you love this country, you must engage in politics by coming to the people of this nation.”

He made these remarks on Saturday (6 December) at the Mini Stadium in Pirganj, Thakurgaon, during the youth festival organised by Jamaat-e-Islami.

Sadik Qayem further said, “Politics in Bangladesh must embrace justice. If one wants to participate in politics in the new Bangladesh, it must reflect the soil and the language of its people. Politics must be conducted here, in this country.”

He also remarked, “The hopes we had over 54 years have not been fulfilled. Political divisions have prevented anti-fascist movements from succeeding over the past 17 years.”

At the rally, speeches were delivered by Sibgatullah, Office Secretary of Islami Chhatra Shibir; former President Delwar Hossain; Professor Belal Uddin, Amir of the District Jamaat; and other leaders from the district and sub-district units of Jamaat.
