Jamalpur Widow of RAB Member Found Murdered, Investigation Launched

In Jamalpur’s Sarishabari Upazila, a shocking discovery was made early Thursday morning when the body of a housewife was found in a rented accommodation in Shimla Bazar area. Police and local residents suspect that the woman may have been strangled with her scarf after encountering intruders who broke into the house during the previous night.

The deceased has been identified as Lipi Khatun, 35, a resident of Shuayqoir area in Sarishabari Upazila and the wife of RAB member Mohr Uddin. Mohr is currently stationed at the RAB-2 office in Mohammadpur, Dhaka. The couple had two sons and a daughter and were residing in the rented house in Shimla Bazar with their family.

According to police and local sources, Lipi went to sleep in one of the rooms with her 11-year-old daughter the previous night. During this time, a group of burglars cut the room’s grill and entered the house. The body was discovered by police early this morning after receiving information from neighbours, and she was taken to the police station for further investigation.

Officer-in-charge of Sarishabari Police Station, Md. Bachchu Mia, confirmed the incident to the media, stating that the burglars fled with cash and gold ornaments belonging to the deceased. Police have initiated an investigation to identify and apprehend the perpetrators. Lipi’s body has been sent to Jamalpur General Hospital for post-mortem examination. Preparations are underway to file a case in the police station regarding the incident.
