In a disturbing incident at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), a man claiming to be the husband of a young woman abandoned her lifeless body in the emergency department before fleeing the scene. The incident occurred on Monday evening, leaving hospital staff and police shocked. Authorities estimate the deceased woman to be approximately 20 years old.
According to Md. Hasan, a private tralliman (hospital stretcher carrier) at the DMCH emergency department, the man arrived around 6:30 pm on a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw, bringing the young woman on a stretcher. While carrying her into the emergency section, he introduced himself as her husband and informed the staff that an acquaintance would arrive shortly to assist in admitting the patient.
For nearly two hours, the man waited outside the emergency department with the woman’s body on the stretcher. Despite repeatedly promising to bring her inside, he repeatedly delayed under various pretexts.
At approximately 8:15 pm, he reportedly left the hospital, cunningly abandoning the woman’s lifeless body on the stretcher. Medical personnel later examined the young woman and declared her dead.
Inspector Md. Faruk, in charge of the hospital police camp, stated that the deceased bore a dark mark on her chin. The body has been sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
Police have confirmed that the man who brought the woman to the hospital has evaded capture. The relevant local police station has been notified, and an investigation is underway.
