The notorious terrorist Ben Q Hridoy was captured during a military operation

In a decisive operation in Dhaka, the Bangladesh Army has apprehended the notorious militant Ben Q. Hridoy from the Jhaurchor Bau Bazar area under Hazaribagh Police Station. The arrest took place on Saturday, 27 December, at approximately 11:30 PM, following a tip-off received by military intelligence.

A specialised team from the ‘Ajeyo-4’ unit of the 46th Independent Infantry Brigade conducted the operation with precision, successfully detaining Hridoy without incident. After preliminary questioning, he was handed over to the Hazaribagh Police on Sunday, 28 December, around midday.

According to army sources, the Jhaurchor Bau Bazar area was identified as a stronghold where Hridoy had been operating for an extended period. Previous attempts by the Detective Branch (DB) police, local police, and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) to apprehend him had repeatedly failed, as he evaded capture through careful planning and mobility.

Military intelligence also revealed that in a prior operation conducted days earlier, a raid on a location used by Hridoy resulted in the seizure of a significant cache of homemade firearms. However, Hridoy had gone into hiding before he could be apprehended at that time. During the latest operation, a homemade firearm was recovered from his possession. Following due legal procedures, he was formally transferred to the custody of Hazaribagh Police.

Hridoy is reported to have been actively involved in criminal and terrorist activities across Jhaurchor, Hazaribagh, and Koighat areas for many years. He is known to have led multiple criminal networks, and a number of his associates are still attempting to destabilise the region.

Hazaribagh Police SI Abu Saeed Chowdhury confirmed the arrest, stating: “The army conducted a targeted operation on Saturday night and detained a suspect. He was handed over to Hazaribagh Police with a homemade firearm on Sunday afternoon. Legal proceedings are ongoing against him.”
