Dinajpur police have recovered the lifeless body of a female college student, Mostarina Akter, from a hostel in the city. The tragic discovery occurred on Tuesday, 6 December, around midday at the Linka Girls’ Hostel, located near Balubari, adjacent to Dinajpur Government Women’s College.
Mostarina Akter was a third-year honours student in the Bengali Department of Dinajpur Government Women’s College. Her family hails from Elubari village in Fulbari Upazila, Dinajpur.
According to Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Md. Abdul Halim, authorities were alerted to the incident and arrived promptly at the scene. “Upon reaching the hostel, we found the student hanging. It appears she used her own scarf to take her life,” he confirmed. The body was subsequently recovered and taken into police custody.
Forensic procedures have been initiated to determine the exact cause of death. The body has been sent to Dinajpur Medical College mortuary for autopsy, and the final findings will reveal whether foul play was involved or if it was a case of suicide.
