A tragic accident in Alamdanga, Chuadanga, has claimed the life of a young expatriate when he attempted to save a cat from being hit on a busy road. The incident occurred on Tuesday, 6 January, around midday, near the Jadavpur Bridge on the Hatboalia Road in Alamdanga Upazila.
The deceased has been identified as Najmul Huda, 28, son of Ainal Haque from Hardi village in Alamdanga. Najmul had been working abroad in Malaysia before returning to Bangladesh for personal matters.
According to Alamdanga Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge, Bani Israil, Najmul was riding his motorcycle from Hardi towards Alamdanga town for personal errands when a cat suddenly ran into his path near the Jadavpur Bridge. In an effort to save the animal, he lost control of the motorcycle and was thrown onto the road, sustaining fatal injuries at the scene.
Police confirmed that his body was taken home by family members shortly after the accident. The community has expressed deep sorrow at the sudden loss of a young man known for his kindness and compassion.

The Officer-in-Charge also stated that an investigation into the accident is underway, and authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution in the area, which has witnessed frequent minor incidents. “Road safety and traffic awareness are critical,” he added, calling for increased vigilance from both riders and pedestrians.
The sudden death of Najmul Huda has shocked his family and neighbours, highlighting both the dangers present on local roads and the profound human empathy that led him to act selflessly in his final moments. Community members and local leaders have extended condolences and emphasised the importance of road safety education to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
