The victim, identified as Rahela Akter Shanta, aged 18, was a second-year intermediate student in the Science department at Jilani Chishti College.

The tragic accident occurred during the busy midday hours in the Ghosherhat area of Chandpur Sadar. According to eyewitness accounts and local residents, Rahela was attempting to cross the road when she was hit by a speeding bus operated by Aidi Paribahan. Official Response and Legal Action

The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chandpur Sadar Model Police Station, Md. Fayez Ahmed, officially confirmed the casualty. He stated that the police reached the scene shortly after the accident to secure the area and recover the body.

“The loss of such a young life is deeply regrettable. We are currently in the process of initiating legal proceedings against those responsible,” OC Ahmed commented. While the bus has been identified, it remains to be seen if the driver has been apprehended or if the vehicle has been impounded as part of the evidence.

This tragedy adds to the mounting statistics of road fatalities involving students in the region. Education activists and parents have once again called for stricter enforcement of speed limits and the installation of speed breakers or pedestrian bridges near educational institutions and busy markets.
