Himalayan Heights Host Gen-Z Romance

Nestled in the heart of the Himalayas, under the shadow of snow-capped peaks and beneath expansive blue skies, lies the remote town of Jomsom in Nepal’s Mustang district. Perched along the banks of the Kali Gandaki River at an altitude of approximately 2,760 metres above sea level, this town has long captivated the imaginations of filmmakers and travel enthusiasts alike. Its dramatic landscapes, challenging access routes, and extreme weather have earned Jomsom the reputation of being a “dream location, yet a formidable challenge” for Bollywood and international film crews.

Amidst this breathtaking natural backdrop, the Bangladeshi music video O Jan was recently filmed, featuring actress Sunera Binte Kamal and model-actor Farukh Ahmed Rehan in the lead roles. During the shoot, temperatures plunged to between –8°C and –10°C, presenting a severe challenge for the cast and crew. Yet the snow-laden mountains, serene river, and panoramic vistas imbued the production with an unparalleled visual grandeur.

Reflecting on her experience, Sunera Binte Kamal said, “Jomsom’s beauty is like a living painting. Shooting in –8°C was extremely difficult, yet it has left me with memories I will cherish forever. Audiences will be mesmerised not only by the romance of the song but also by the natural splendour surrounding it.” Farukh Ahmed Rehan added, “Working in such a meticulously crafted location is a unique experience. The cold was intense, but the majesty of the environment made every hardship worthwhile.”

The music and vocal performances of O Jan are equally compelling. The song features vocals by Konal and Niloy, lyrics by Asif Iqbal, and musical composition and orchestration by Dhaka-based Avoral Sahir and Kolkata’s Linkon. The project was directed and scripted by Tanim Rahman Anju, who coordinated post-production collaboratively with teams from Bangladesh, India, and Nepal.

Asif Iqbal, head of Ganchil Music, remarked, “‘O Jan’ portrays a tender story of Gen-Z romance, where each scene harmoniously fuses music with the surrounding natural environment.” Director Tanim Rahman Anju added, “By leveraging modern technology, we have created a cinematic experience where snow, mountains, and romance converge—a testament to the collaborative efforts of a Bangladeshi director, an Indian cinematographer, and a Nepali location manager.”

The music video is scheduled for release on 30 January 2026 via its official YouTube channel. It promises viewers a delicate Gen-Z romance set against the awe-inspiring vistas of the Himalayas, blending youthful passion with the grandeur of nature in an unforgettable visual experience.
