In a significant crackdown on illegal narcotics, the Dhaka District North Detective Branch (DB) successfully apprehended three drug traffickers in Savar during a special operation, seizing a substantial quantity of illicit substances. The operation, confirmed in a press release on Sunday, 15 February, by Inspector Md. Saidul Islam of Dhaka District North DB, recovered 1.2 kilograms of cannabis and three grams of heroin from the suspects.
The arrests occurred on Saturday afternoon in the Rajfulbaria Rajaghat area of Savar, following a tip-off about ongoing drug transactions. Acting swiftly on the intelligence, DB officers intercepted the suspects during the sale of narcotics and took them into custody.
Subsequently, a case was filed under the Narcotics Control Act at Savar Police Station, and the trio was presented in court on Sunday afternoon.

Inspector Md. Saidul Islam stated, “These individuals are identified as professional drug traffickers in the region. Our review of the CDMS records indicates that they have prior cases registered against them under the Narcotics Control Act. This operation reflects our commitment to zero tolerance on drugs. The Dhaka District Police will continue to conduct such special operations to eliminate drug trafficking.”
DB officials emphasised that the operation was part of a broader campaign to combat illegal drugs, especially targeting professional dealers involved in local distribution networks. The seizure of cannabis and heroin is expected to disrupt the supply chain in Savar and surrounding areas.
This latest operation underscores law enforcement’s determination to enforce strict anti-drug measures and safeguard public health and safety in Dhaka District. Police authorities have assured the community that further raids and preventive actions will continue in line with the zero-tolerance policy.
