In a significant anti-narcotics operation in Savar, the Dhaka District North Detective Branch (DB) has apprehended two professional drug dealers in possession of 100 pieces of yaba tablets. Following the arrests, a total of eight cases have been filed against the suspects.

The operation was confirmed in a press release on Monday, 16 February, by Inspector Md. Saidul Islam of the Dhaka District North DB.

The arrested individuals have been identified as:

Mamunur Rashid Mamun (30), son of Nuruzzaman, from Tikani Mondolpara (Tekani School Para), Mithapukur Police Station, Rangpur District.

Inspector Saidul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Dhaka District North DB, stated, “Acting on the directive of the Superintendent of Police of Dhaka District, a special operation was conducted in the Palli Bidyut area under Ashulia Police Station. During the raid, two professional drug traffickers were arrested, and 100 pieces of yaba tablets were recovered. Currently, five cases have been filed against Manik and three against Mamun.”

This arrest marks a continued effort by the Dhaka police to curb the trafficking of yaba tablets in the capital’s northern districts. Officials emphasised that professional drug networks are being closely monitored and strict legal action is being taken against repeat offenders.

The recovered yaba is estimated to have a significant street value, and authorities warn that such operations will persist until the drug menace is eliminated from the region. The police have urged citizens to report any suspicious activities related to narcotics.
