Elderly Man Brutally Stabbed to Death in Barisal

A shocking incident unfolded in Barisal Sadar Upazila, where a 60-year-old man, Delwar Hossain, was fatally stabbed by unidentified assailants on Wednesday evening, 18 February. The attack took place around 8:00 PM in the village of Bousherhat Majh Gram, located in the Raipasha-Korapur Union.

Delwar Hossain, the son of Mohammad Hossain and a local market lessee, was returning home from the nearby market when he was ambushed in the central part of the village. According to local sources, the assailants attacked him with knives and fled immediately after committing the crime, leaving the community in shock.

Upon receiving news of the murder, police from Bimanbandar Police Station rushed to the scene. They recovered the victim’s body and transported it to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Confirming the incident, Officer-in-Charge Md. Mizanur Rahman stated, “Delwar Hossain was murdered by being stabbed. His body has been sent to the hospital for post-mortem. At present, the identities of the perpetrators remain unknown. An investigation is underway to apprehend those responsible.”

Family members of the deceased reported that Delwar Hossain had longstanding disputes over land matters with his cousins. Preliminary inquiries suggest that these conflicts may have been the motive behind the attack. The family has expressed their intention to file a murder case against the suspected relatives.
