In the early hours of Monday, a tragic road accident in Comilla’s Daudkandi upazila claimed the lives of two individuals, including the driver of a microbus. The vehicle lost control and collided with another car on the busy Dhaka–Chattogram Highway near the Malikhain area, leaving the microbus severely damaged.

According to the police, the microbus was travelling at a high speed when the driver lost control, resulting in a frontal collision with an unidentified vehicle. The impact caused extensive damage to the front section of the microbus.

Daudkandi Highway Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Iqbal Bahar Majumdar confirmed the incident, stating that authorities reached the scene promptly and transported the injured to a nearby hospital. Tragically, both victims were declared dead upon arrival.

The identities of the deceased are as follows:

Ibrahim Hossain 15 Student Brahmanpara, Comilla

Police reports indicate that the front portion of the microbus was completely crushed during the collision. OC Majumdar added, “Upon receiving the report, our team immediately rushed to the site to rescue the injured. Unfortunately, both individuals succumbed before reaching the hospital. The bodies are now in the process of being handed over to their families.”

A case of accidental death is expected to be filed in connection with the accident. Authorities have launched a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash. Local residents have highlighted that this stretch of the Dhaka–Chattogram Highway is notoriously hazardous, particularly for vehicles travelling at high speeds.

Police and local administration officials have urged drivers to exercise caution, maintain control over their vehicles, and adhere strictly to speed limits. Residents have also called for improved safety measures along the highway to prevent such devastating accidents in the future.

This unfortunate incident in Daudkandi underscores the critical importance of road safety awareness, timely police response, and strict speed regulation on one of the country’s busiest highways.
