Australian music superstar Delta Goodrem has been confirmed as her nation’s representative at the 70th Eurovision Song Contest, set to take place this May in Vienna, Austria. The announcement was made today by SBS and production partner Beyond Productions, confirming that Goodrem will perform her brand-new single, Eclipse, at the renowned Wiener Stadthalle arena.
Goodrem, widely regarded as one of Australia’s most internationally recognised artists, brings a wealth of experience and acclaim to the contest. Her participation has sparked excitement among Eurovision fans, with expectations high for a strong showing.
“I am deeply honoured to represent Australia on one of the most iconic stages in the world,” Goodrem stated. “Music has been my lifelong passion, and Eurovision embodies creativity, individuality, and joy. It connects people across the globe through the universal language of music. I cannot wait to arrive in Vienna and make Australia proud.”
Eclipse, released today, is described as capturing “the rare, breath-stealing moment when shadow and light fall into perfect harmony — a metaphor for clarity, alignment, and stepping fully into your purpose.” Goodrem co-wrote the track with Ferras Alqaisi, Jonas Myrin, and Michael Catkin, with Catkin also handling production duties.
The single is accompanied by a visually striking music video, directed by Melbourne-born, London-based filmmaker Liam Pethick, known for his collaborations with Ed Sheeran, and produced by Brian Purnell, whose credits include Troye Sivan and Tame Impala. The video was filmed amid the sweeping sand dunes of Newcastle, New South Wales, offering a dramatic backdrop to the song’s themes.
Goodrem’s career began at the age of 15, when she signed her first record deal. Her debut album, Innocent Eyes, remains one of Australia’s highest-selling albums, achieving five No. 1 singles and holding the top spot for seven-and-a-half months — a record in Australian chart history. Over her career, she has sold over nine million albums worldwide, claimed five No. 1 albums, nine No. 1 singles, and 12 ARIA Awards.
SBS Head of Entertainment Emily Griggs emphasised the significance of the 2026 contest: “After years of speculation, the moment has arrived. Delta embodies the spirit of Eurovision. Her voice and stage presence will make Australia shine in the contest’s 70th year, returning to the stage where our Eurovision journey began in 2015.”
