Scattered Hailstorm Possible Across Bangladesh

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast intermittent spells of strong or gusty winds accompanied by rain or thundershowers across the country over the next five days. In addition, scattered hailstorms may occur in some areas.

Meteorologist Dr. Md. Omar Faruk provided the official outlook on Tuesday, 17 March, highlighting regions that are likely to experience sudden weather changes.

According to the department, over the next 24 hours, temporary gusty winds with lightning and rainfall are expected in parts of the Sylhet division, and in one or two locations across the Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions. Scattered hailstorms may accompany these showers. Daytime and nighttime temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged across the country.

The forecast from Wednesday, 18 March, 9:00 AM to Thursday morning indicates similar conditions, with temporary strong winds, lightning, and rainfall in one or two locations across Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet. Scattered hail may occur in certain areas, and a slight rise in both day and night temperatures is expected nationwide.

From Thursday, 19 March, 9:00 AM, temporary gusty winds with thunderstorms and rainfall are anticipated in one or two places across Bangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Chattogram, and Sylhet. Scattered hail may also appear, while temperatures are likely to remain nearly unchanged.

On Friday, 20 March, similar weather patterns are expected: gusty winds with lightning and showers may occur in a few places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, and Sylhet, as well as in one or two locations across Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram. Daytime temperatures are forecast to remain stable, while night temperatures may drop slightly.

For Saturday, 21 March, temporary strong winds with thunderstorms and rainfall are expected in some locations across Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, and Sylhet, and in one or two locations in Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram. Scattered hail is possible, and both day and night temperatures are likely to decrease slightly.

Residents are advised to remain alert for sudden weather changes, particularly in regions prone to hail, and to take necessary precautions during periods of gusty winds and thunderstorms.
