Repeated Clashes in Natore Village Leave Eight Injured

In Natore’s Singra Upazila, a violent clash over local dominance erupted between two rival factions on Sunday morning, leaving eight people injured and causing significant property damage. Shockingly, the confrontations unfolded in full view of law enforcement officers, who struggled to control the situation.

The incident occurred around 9:00 am in Madha Banshbaria, a village in Dahiya Union. Locals say tensions between the village leaders—Sujauddola Surya and Solaiman Hossain Labu—had been simmering for years. On Sunday, the longstanding feud escalated into a series of violent skirmishes between supporters of both sides.

Despite the timely arrival of police at the scene, efforts to restore order failed initially. The clashes continued repeatedly in front of officers, with attackers vandalising property. Reports confirmed that a private car and several residential structures were damaged during the unrest.

Injured individuals were quickly transported to Singra Upazila Health Complex for treatment. Authorities have since deployed additional police personnel to the area, as tensions remain high among residents.

Local Police Response and Casualties

Singra Police Station Officer-in-Charge A B M Abdun Noor confirmed that despite police presence, controlling the violence proved difficult due to the intensity of the clashes. He added that the deployment of extra personnel aims to prevent further escalation and restore peace in the village.

Residents of Madha Banshbaria expressed fear for their safety, describing the morning’s events as unprecedented in their memory. Local authorities are now investigating the incident, attempting to identify the perpetrators and mediate between the feuding factions.

The confrontation underscores a growing concern over factional disputes in rural areas, where longstanding rivalries often escalate into open violence, challenging the capacity of local law enforcement to maintain order.
