Happy Birthday To the evergreen legend of Bangladeshi cinema Alamgir

Alamgir stands as a shining star in the world of Bangladeshi cinema. During the 1980s and 1990s, he secured a permanent place in the hearts of audiences through his exceptional acting skills, strong screen presence and diverse range of characters.

In every frame of his performance, he was effortless, convincing and truly distinctive. From family dramas to social action films, from romantic stories to folk fantasy—he left a lasting mark of success across all genres. He is not only an actor, but also a producer, singer and director, earning equal fame and respect in each role.

His achievements include multiple National Film Awards—winning Best Actor seven times and Best Supporting Actor twice. In 2024, he was honoured with the Ekushey Padak in recognition of his outstanding contribution to acting, marking another significant milestone in his illustrious journey.

He began his silver screen career in 1973 with the film Amar Jonmobhumi, and rose to prominence as a celebrated leading actor through Jinjir. Following this, a series of successful films such as Maa O Chele, Bhat De, Shotti Mittha, Swami Stri, and Sokhina’r Juddho, among many others, showcased his remarkable acting talent and captivated audiences.

His on-screen pairing with Shabana was especially one of the most popular and talked-about duos of its time—still evoking nostalgia among viewers today.

With performances in over two hundred films, he has proven how versatile an artist can be. From student to judge, from rural youth to urban protester—he portrayed every character with equal skill and vitality.

He also lent his voice in several films, including Aguner Alo, and began his directing journey with Nishpap, which was later further enriched through works such as Ekti Cinemar Golpo.

Born on 3 April 1950 in Dhaka, this great star remains our pride and our love to this day.
