Sahibzada Farhan Emerges as T20 Six Machine

Twenty–Twenty cricket has firmly become a contest of power-hitting, with six-hitting ability now considered a key measure of a player’s value. Since 2025, a new phenomenon has dominated this metric: Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan, whose prolific six-hitting has placed him above even the most celebrated international stars.

In just 69 innings since the start of 2025, Farhan has struck 150 sixes, surpassing South Africa’s David Brevis, who has 144 sixes in 59 innings. India’s Abhishek Sharma follows closely with 136 sixes across 56 innings. Meanwhile, New Zealand’s Finn Allen and West Indies’ Nicholas Pooran have hit 133 and 130 sixes in 52 and 70 innings respectively.

T20 Power-Hitting Statistics (2025–Present)

Player Country Innings Sixes Total Runs Centuries Strike Rate Fours
Sahibzada Farhan Pakistan 69 150 2,690 7 152.58 243
David Brevis South Africa 59 144 2,197 5 150.2 231
Abhishek Sharma India 56 136 2,214 4 200.81 218
Finn Allen New Zealand 52 133 1,987 3 185.4 205
Nicholas Pooran West Indies 70 130 1,965 3 146.9 198

While Farhan leads the six-hitting charts, he is also unmatched in centuries during this period, having scored seven T20 hundreds, compared with India’s Ishan Kishan, who has four. Farhan also tops the aggregate runs chart with 2,690 runs, ahead of New Zealand’s Tim Seifert at 2,197 runs.

Interestingly, Farhan’s strike rate of 152.58, while impressive, is not the highest among top power-hitters. Only Nicholas Pooran (146.9) has a lower rate, whereas Abhishek Sharma leads the pack at 200.81. Analysts suggest this discrepancy arises from Farhan’s playing style, which emphasises balance between fours and sixes rather than purely accelerating strike rate.

Farhan also leads in fours, having struck 243, demonstrating his ability to mix classical boundary-hitting with explosive sixes. Despite leading in both fours and sixes, the difference in strike rate indicates a nuanced approach, combining risk-taking with careful shot selection.

Sahibzada Farhan’s emergence highlights the evolution of T20 cricket, where power-hitting is complemented by strategic batting. His consistent performances are not only setting new benchmarks but also redefining the standard for modern T20 batsmen, making him a central figure in the ongoing revolution of the game.
