UCB Launches Integrated Digital App

United Commercial Bank PLC (UCB) has unveiled a comprehensive digital banking platform named “UCB One”, designed to consolidate a wide range of financial and lifestyle services into a single, seamless mobile application. The platform aims to enhance customer convenience by enabling users to access banking services, make payments, shop online, book travel, and benefit from promotional offers through one unified interface.

The official launch took place on Sunday (12 April) at a ceremony held at the Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka. The event was formally inaugurated by Dr. Rashid Al Mahmud Titumir, Adviser to the Chief Adviser on Finance and Planning Affairs. The gathering was attended by senior policymakers, business leaders, stakeholders, and top executives of the bank.

Among other distinguished attendees were Sharif Zahir, Chairman of UCB’s Board of Directors, and Mohammad Mamdudur Rashid, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the bank.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Titumir highlighted ongoing government efforts to modernise the country’s banking sector, particularly through full digitalisation and expanding financial inclusion. He emphasised the importance of reducing irregularities and improving transparency within the financial system, noting that a more digitised ecosystem could support the establishment of universal access to banking services. He also called for stronger collaboration from commercial banks in achieving these objectives.

Chairman Sharif Zahir stated that UCB has demonstrated consistent performance improvement over the past two years, attributing this progress to strengthened governance, transparency, and discipline. He further added that the bank is committed to advancing cashless banking and inclusive financial services, describing digital transformation as the future of the banking industry.

Managing Director and CEO Mohammad Mamdudur Rashid described UCB One as more than just a mobile application. According to him, it represents a fully integrated ecosystem designed to connect multiple services and improve the overall customer experience. He noted that the platform is particularly suited for young and technology-oriented users and will play an important role in strengthening cashless transactions across the country.

At the start of the programme, Deputy Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun presented the key features of the application. He explained that existing users of the previous digital platform would be automatically transitioned to UCB One, ensuring a smooth upgrade without disruption.

These integrated features are designed to offer a faster, safer, and more efficient banking experience.

UCB officials confirmed that additional features will be gradually introduced to further expand the platform’s capabilities in the coming phases.

In terms of technological advancement, UCB highlighted that it is the first bank in Bangladesh to adopt Oracle’s latest Open API version 14.7, significantly strengthening the app’s security infrastructure.
