Youth Stabbed to Death in Rayer Bazar

A 28-year-old man, identified as Asadul Haque, also known as “Longu Asadul”, was fatally stabbed in the Rayer Bazar area of the capital on Wednesday midnight. The incident occurred in the Sadeq Khan brick kiln area under Rayer Bazar, according to police.

Law enforcement officials stated that Asadul was allegedly attacked by his associates following a dispute. He was later declared dead at hospital.

According to the police, Asadul Haque had multiple prior cases filed against him at Mohammadpur Police Station, including allegations related to drugs and robbery. Authorities have confirmed that no arrests have yet been made in connection with the killing.

Fazlul Karim, Additional Deputy Commissioner of the Tejgaon Division Police, said on Thursday that Asadul went to the Sadeq Khan brick kiln area with his associates shortly after midnight. A verbal altercation reportedly developed among them, during which he was stabbed by his companions, who then fled the scene.

Following the incident, Asadul was taken to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital at approximately 12:45 am while in a critically injured condition. On arrival, attending doctors examined him and declared him dead.

Police further stated that a knife was recovered from Asadul’s pocket. The circumstances surrounding the possession of the weapon have not been elaborated upon by authorities.

Asadul Haque resided in the Metro Housing area of Mohammadpur in Dhaka. His ancestral home is in Gournadi Upazila of Barishal district. His father’s name is Jalil Sardar.

Investigations are ongoing, and police have indicated that efforts are underway to identify and apprehend those involved in the incident.
