SBAC Bank Trains Women Entrepreneurs

SBAC Bank PLC has conducted a day-long workshop on financial management to enhance the capacity of women entrepreneurs in the CMSME sector, under the supervision of Bangladesh Bank. The initiative aligns with ongoing efforts to strengthen financial inclusion and promote sustainable growth among small and medium enterprises led by women.

The workshop was held on Sunday, 19 April 2026, at the Shrimp Research Center of the Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute in Bagerhat. It brought together central bank officials, commercial bankers, and women entrepreneurs for discussions focused on financial discipline, access to credit, and efficient fund management.

Md. Rokanuzzaman, Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank’s Khulna Office, attended as the chief guest. He emphasised the importance of sound financial practices in ensuring business sustainability and resilience, particularly within the CMSME segment. He also noted that targeted training initiatives can significantly improve entrepreneurs’ financial decision-making capabilities.

S. M. Kamaluzzaman Kamal, Director (Inspection) at Bangladesh Bank, Khulna, was present as the special guest. He highlighted the role of compliance, transparency, and risk management in maintaining stability and fostering growth in small and medium enterprises.

The technical session was conducted by Riazul Islam, Additional Director of the SME and Special Programmes Department of Bangladesh Bank, Khulna, who served as the lead speaker. His session covered key financial management areas, including credit planning, loan utilisation, risk assessment, and proper record-keeping—critical components for the effective operation of CMSMEs.

The workshop was presided over by S. M. Mainul Kabir, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of SBAC Bank PLC. He reiterated the bank’s commitment to supporting women entrepreneurs through tailored financial products, advisory services, and capacity-building programmes.

Senior officials of the bank were also present, including Md. Mofazzal Mamun Khan, Chief Technology Officer and Senior Executive Vice President; Md. Rashed Akter, Head of Retail Distribution Division and SEVP; and Mohammad Abdul Mannan, Head of Credit Risk Management Division and Executive Vice President. Branch managers, credit in-charges from the Khulna region, and participating women entrepreneurs also attended.
