Meghna Bank PLC has inaugurated a bill collection booth for the Dhaka Power Distribution Company (DPDC) at Satmasjid Road in the Dhanmondi area of Dhaka, with the objective of improving accessibility and convenience in the payment of electricity bills for customers.
According to a press release, the booth was inaugurated recently at a formal ceremony held at the designated site. The initiative is intended to support efficient utility service delivery by providing an additional channel for DPDC customers to settle their electricity bills without needing to visit centralised payment offices.
The inauguration was jointly carried out by Momtazul Karim N Ahmed, Deputy Managing Director of Meghna Bank PLC, and Md. Tariqul Hoque, Chief Engineer (NOCS North). Their participation marked the official commencement of the booth’s operations, which are expected to serve consumers in and around the Satmasjid Road and Dhanmondi areas.
The DPDC, which is responsible for electricity distribution across a significant portion of Dhaka city, continues to implement measures aimed at improving customer service efficiency. The expansion of bill collection points through partnerships with financial institutions is part of a broader approach to decentralise payment facilities and reduce pressure on conventional billing centres.
The inauguration programme was attended by senior officials from both organisations. Among them were Samiul Kabir, Head of Retail Banking at Meghna Bank PLC, and Engr. Afazzal Haque, Executive Engineer (NOCS Satmasjid). Other officials from Meghna Bank PLC and DPDC were also present, reflecting coordinated institutional involvement in the initiative.
Such collaborations between commercial banks and utility service providers are increasingly being adopted in urban service frameworks. By integrating banking infrastructure with public utility payment systems, organisations aim to offer customers more flexible and time-saving options for bill settlement. These arrangements also contribute to improved service distribution and reduced congestion at primary payment locations.
Meghna Bank PLC has been expanding its retail banking and customer service operations, including utility bill collection services, as part of its broader strategy to enhance financial service accessibility. Through partnerships with utility providers such as DPDC, the bank continues to extend its service network to support everyday transactional needs of customers.
