A road accident on the Mymensingh–Kishoreganj highway left at least ten passengers injured after a bus lost control and overturned into adjacent farmland on Wednesday morning.
The incident occurred around 11:00 am on 22 April in the Merenga Kawargati area of Nandail. The vehicle, operated by MK Super Paribahan, was travelling from Kishoreganj towards Mymensingh when it suddenly veered off course.
According to police and eyewitness accounts, the driver reportedly lost control of the bus upon reaching the accident-prone stretch of road. The vehicle first collided with a roadside electricity pole before overturning into a nearby field, causing panic among passengers on board.
At the time of the crash, approximately 30 passengers were travelling in the bus. Following the impact, at least ten individuals sustained injuries of varying severity. Locals rushed to the scene immediately after the accident and assisted in rescuing the injured passengers from the overturned vehicle.
Emergency responders later transported the injured to Kishoreganj Sadar Hospital for treatment. Hospital sources indicated that while most victims suffered minor to moderate injuries, a few were kept under observation for further medical evaluation.
Upon receiving information, a team from the Nandail Highway Police Station, led by Officer-in-Charge Bizon Kumar Roy, arrived at the scene promptly. The police assisted in rescue operations, managed traffic disruption on the highway, and initiated preliminary inquiries into the cause of the accident.
Authorities have suggested that possible speeding or mechanical failure may have contributed to the loss of control, although the exact cause remains under investigation. The damaged vehicle was later recovered from the field to clear the road for traffic movement.
