MUMBAI — PNB MetLife India Insurance Company Limited, a leading private life insurer in India, has officially launched its latest savings and protection solution, the PNB MetLife RISE Plan. This product is categorised as an individual, non-linked, non-participating life insurance plan, specifically designed to provide policyholders with a combination of guaranteed financial returns and comprehensive life cover throughout the duration of the policy term.

Product Structure and Strategic Objectives

The launch of the RISE Plan aligns with the company’s objective to address the increasing consumer demand for financial instruments that offer certainty in an era of market volatility. As a non-participating plan, the benefits are fixed at the outset of the contract and do not depend on the insurer’s bonus declarations or underlying market performance. This structure ensures that the policyholder is aware of the exact quantum of income they will receive, provided the policy remains in force and all requisite premiums are settled.

The plan is engineered to cater to diverse financial milestones, such as educational funding, retirement planning, or long-term wealth preservation. By bridging the gap between protection and systematic savings, PNB MetLife aims to capture a larger share of the mass-affluent and middle-income segments seeking low-risk investment vehicles.

Customisable Income Options

To provide flexibility in how benefits are dispersed, the PNB MetLife RISE Plan offers two distinct primary options:

1. Smart Income: This variant is structured to provide steady income streams at specific intervals, tailored for those who require regular cash flow to meet recurring expenses.

2. Smart Income Pro: This option offers an alternative timing and structure for payouts, designed for individuals who may have different liquidity requirements or financial planning horizons.

Policyholders are granted further autonomy regarding the timing of these payments, with the choice to receive their income either in advance or in arrears. Furthermore, the plan features a Survival Benefit accumulation facility. Under this provision, policyholders can choose to defer their payouts and instead accumulate them with the insurer at an interest rate of 3% per annum, compounded monthly. This allows for the tactical growth of funds for larger future requirements.

Premium Terms and Maturity Benefits

The RISE Plan accommodates various financial capacities by offering a range of Premium Payment Terms (PPT). Customers can opt for a duration of between five and 12 years, depending on their long-term financial commitments and age at entry.

Upon the completion of the policy term, provided the policyholder survives the duration and all premiums have been paid, the plan offers a lump-sum payout in the form of a Return of Premiums (RoP). • Accidental Death Cover: Provides an additional sum assured in the event of death resulting from an accident.

• Serious Illness Cover: Offers financial support upon the diagnosis of specified critical or serious illnesses, helping to mitigate the high costs of medical treatment.

These riders allow for a bespoke protection suite, enabling customers to guard against specific risks beyond the standard life insurance provision.

Tax Implications and Regulatory Context

In accordance with the prevailing fiscal statutes in India, the premiums paid towards the PNB MetLife RISE Plan, as well as the benefits received upon maturity or death, may qualify for tax treatment under the relevant sections of the Income Tax Act. However, the company notes that tax laws are subject to change, and the specific impact depends on the individual circumstances of the policyholder.
